misch bday lunch

Grace wanted me to blog abt it.. so here it is.
last wed had lunch with misch, grace, cherie and yeelin at this Russian restraunt called Shaslik (far east SHOPPING CENTER, Level 6, on yr left) to celeb misch bday(be-earlied)

well, we had cream of corn (mushroom for grace and cherie) soup, which was quite well done. the mushroom soup had gorgeous chunks of nice AUTHENTIC button mushrooms, pity grace don't eat them (YES, SHE ORDERED MUSHROOM SOUP BUT DUN EAT MUSHROOM, go figure*rolls eyes*, but all the better for moi, who HAPPILY "removed" the "offending" mushrooms from grace) Then had glorious beef oxtail stew set, and escargots (pronounced: ess-car-go-s with a certain french flair) baked in yummy garlic and butter, with a very strange (see: dangerous-to-bystanders) demo by misch on how to eat it for grace and yee lin, luckily we have cherie =).
Then followed by our slice of fruit, watermelon (strange in a posh little restraunt), which we joked was a select breed imported off the coast of TAi-WAn(pronounced with a distinct accent). hilarious. then left them figuring how to eat the slice of water melon with fork and knives.. haha.
ANS:

haha. guess u got to see it to believe it. oh wells.
then we had Crepes Suzette:
*Ahem* here's teh story behind the dish.

It was over a hundred years ago, the place was the Cafe de Paris in MonteCarlo, and the dish was a mistake made by a fifteen year-old, who was preparing a dessert for Edward, the Prince of Wales. The French pancakes he was about toserve were to be re-heated at the table but while the young waiter/chefwas preparing the sauce, the cordials caught fire. What to do? He tasted it -- delicious! He plunged the pancakes into the boiling sauce, poured in more cordials, watched the flames rise again, and served them to the Prince. The Prince not only ate the cakes but also spooned up the remaining sauce andasked what the dish was called. The young chef stammered a name honoring the Prince. However, the Prince gallantly suggested there was a ladypresent, the young daughter of one of the men at his table. Her name was Suzette. Why not call the dish Crepes-Suzette? The little girl rose andcurtsied to the chef. The next day the Prince sent the chef a jeweledring, a Panama hat and a cane.
Then we had flambe (pronounced: Flom- bay) bannanas with ice-cream. Both was prepared in front of us, but guess i still miss the young good-looking gaston(young boy) who prepared it when i was a young kid at this hotel.. can't rem except it was a much more dramatic affair then the one done by that lady at the rest. but guess anything with a flame still looks impressive. haha.

A very nice lunch with good frens at a nice restruant with many joyful and funny moments in between, in a place with nice ambience. =) *quite nice*

./end

oh, btw if u intend to go there, can try the bombed alaska and the bosch soup. haha but go early, it gets packed pretty fast since lunch is at an amazing price of $12.50!!!! for such gorgeous food.
